Sting from a jellyfish. Jellyfish cause most of the stings that occur in sea water. The main symptoms are pain, burning and redness at the sting site. Red lines are common.

Cramps in the lower belly or pelvis. They start during the first 1 or 2 days of a girl’s period. Cramps only happen during menstrual bleeding. Report of cramps in the past are helpful. Cramps often don’t start until periods are present for over 1 year.

Symptoms that occur with travel to a high altitude. Starts at 8,000 feet (2400 meters) above sea level or higher. Also called Altitude Sickness.

A feeling that vomiting might occur and feeling “sick to the stomach” (queasy). Vomiting has not occurred. That symptom is covered in the Vomiting handout. Stomach pain is not present. That symptom is covered in the Abdominal Pain handout.

Child put a foreign body (FB) in their nose. The child tells the parent or the parent see a strange object in child’s nose. Your doctor or nurse says it is safe to try to remove it at home. That’s only helpful for small, harmless objects.

Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER) occurs during or after a meal when stomach contents go back into the tube (esophagus) that connects the mouth to the stomach.

STI stands for Sexually Transmitted Infection. STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease. It’s an older term and means the same thing. Some STIs cause serious complications. Do everything you can to prevent them.
