What is Familial Hypercholesterolemia or "FH"? If you break down the words, it would only mean "High Cholesterol That Runs in Your Family", but "FH" is so much more FH is a severe condition that can be devastating to families. It means you have very high cholesterol that starts at a young age and leads to premature heart disease. Since you don't feel different when your cholesterol is high, it can only be detected by checking your cholesterol through blood testing, and then being aware that your LDL-cholesterol is much higher than average.
